David and Lori Soehnlen
Dave and his 3 older brothers were raised on the farm where Soehnlen Veterinary Clinic now stands. His family raised cattle, horses, sheep, hogs and all types of poultry. Upon graduation from Walsh College, Dave spent two years in the U.S. Army serving as a veterinary technician in Vietnam taking care of sentry and scout dogs. Dave returned in the summer of 1970 and enrolled in Veterinary School at The Ohio State University. After graduation he started a mixed animal practice on the family farm with a primary emphasis on equine care. That practice has evolved into the diversified animal practice that Dave and Lori lead today.Lori was raised on a beef and grain farm where her family raised cattle, hogs and goats. She graduated from St. Petersburg College in Florida with a veterinary technician’s certificate and is currently working on a B.A.S. degree. With 30 years experience at Soehnlen Veterinary Clinic. Lori enjoys working in surgery and anesthesia. Together, Dave and Lori enjoy spending time with their 11 children while raising animals on the farm, planting trees, and traveling.
Dr. Mike Sparling
Dr. Mike Sparling is a graduate of OSU Veterinary School of Medicine class of 1988. He has been involved in both mixed food animal and emergency medicine practices. He married the girl down the street, Gay, in 1985 and they have 6 children (Sarah, David, Kari, Jacob, Danny, and Josiah) and 2 grandchildren. Mike lives with 2 golden retrievers, Maddie and Brutus, and spends his spare time in his garden.
Stan and Dana Soehnlen
Stan is the oldest son of Dave and Lori Soehnlen and husband to Dana Soehnlen, also a member of our staff. He will graduate from Lincoln Memorial College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2019. He enjoys small animal medicine as well as bovine medicine. In his free time he enjoys hiking, canoeing, and traveling to enjoy the great outdoors. Dana has been on the clinic staff since December 2012. She will join our veterinary staff full time following her graduation from Lincoln Memorial College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2019. She loves all things dogs, cats, and cows as well as spending time with her family and friends.
Mark is the second oldest of Dave and Lori Soehnlen’s children and is a graduate of Walsh University. He works in the pharmacy at the clinic and also coaches basketball and cross country at Fairless Middle School.
Sheri has worked at Soehnlen Veterinary Clinic since 2012 and currently serves as the office manager. She is the mother of three grown daughters, and she enjoys traveling with her husband and family plus working in her flower garden.
Amy has been a receptionist at the clinic since October 2013 and she really enjoys her time with her co-workers and the many clients that she interacts with on a daily basis. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their 5 dogs and their granddaughter, Taylor.
Jennifer has 5 Newfoundland dogs that she loves to play with along her husband and grandchildren. She participated in the veterinary technology program at Kent State University and has been a veterinary assistant and receptionist at the clinic since 2016.
Keri has been in charge of boarding at Soehnlen Vet Clinic since the summer of 2018. She is a graduate of Kent State University and the Ohio 4-H program where she developed her love for all animals at an early age.
Cheyanne loves to work with large animals the most but she also loves her time with puppies and kittens at Soehnlen Vet Clinic. She also enjoys hiking with her dog Frankie.
Aaliyah is proud to call herself a “dog mom” but she loves large and small animals alike. She has been working at the clinic since 2016 while attending Kent State University where she majors in veterinary technology.
Ryan has worked with us since the fall of 2016. He is a student at Mount Union pursuing a degree in education. He enjoys being outdoors, especially running and playing or coaching soccer in his spare time.
Rose has been a receptionist at Soehnlen Veterinary Clinic since September 2017. She loves to sell the variety of pets that come to the clinic and she loves to interact with their owners. She lives with 4 dogs and a cat, and enjoys looking for treasures at flea markets and antique shops.
Leslie attends Kent State University where she majors in intercontinental studies. Since the summer of 2016 she has worked in the pharmacy at Soehnlen Vet Clinic. Leslie enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities especially hiking with her dogs, rock climbing, and long boarding.
Abbey has worked on the boarding and receptionist staff since June of 2017. She loves to work with the clients and their pets on a daily basis. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog.
Chloe has been working for Soehnlen Veterinary Clinic since June 2017. She works as a receptionist and also performs laser treatments. She is currently enrolled at Kent State University at Stark and in her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Leanne is a graduate of Walsh University with a degree in Biology. She breeds, raises, and trains quarter horses outside of work. She likes to rodeo including barrel racing, mounted shooting, and trail riding.
Kerry is a graduate of Kent State University and works part-time at our front desk. She trains various breeds of horses for both show and trail riding plus she gives equestrian lessons and clinics to all ages of riders. When she is not in the stables or the clinic, you will find her hiking with her dogs.
Jenny has always enjoyed working with animals and grew up around cats, birds, dogs, and turtles. She currently lives with 5 dogs, one outside cat (plus several neighborhood cats), 15 hens and a rooster, and 2 geese. She is married since 1980 to her best friend and they have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren.
Randy has an associate degree in Beef and Sheep Production from OSU/ATI. He enjoys spending time with his family on their farm in Brewster. He plans to continue his education into the veterinary technician program.
